The psychedelic rock band Nerbuda invited me to illustrate the cover for their album “Rastros”, a work that delves into existential and spiritual themes through poetic reflections and political critique. Their powerful sound blends Afro rhythms with the rock and blues of the 70s, through immersive guitar solos and full-band crescendos that erupt into explosions of sound, before descending into serene ritualistic atmospheres.
Their music feels like an ocean wave: it crashes and then calms, an existential wave aware of the transience of life. From that idea, also inspired by their lyrics, I sought to express the importance of embracing this single opportunity of existence, to live with strong vitality, consciousness, and spiritual growth, to make life a revolutionary and meaningful experience.
From nothing we appear, and to nothing we shall return, and within that vast existential sea, Nerbuda becomes a golden wave of sound and soul, an explosion of life born from the heart.
