Walter Finschi contacted me to create the cover artwork for “Los Pasos del Ayer”, the album by his hard rock band Puente Negro.
Through its lyrics and the powerful intensity of its sound, the album reflects the people who abandon their true desire and passion, trapped in a system of surveillance designed to keep everyone obedient and “normal”.
In contrast, it celebrates the courage of those who dare to cross the path of self-knowledge, pursuing their inner realization, with no way back from consciousness.
The composition embodies this journey through symbolic elements, like the panopticon inspired by Michel Foucault’s philosophy, which represents social control and vigilance. It also includes personal symbols from Walter’s own life, such as his Volkswagen van, which I used to talk about the comfort that prevents us from being truly responsible for our own desire to live. Every element was placed to enrich the meaning of the album, the transcendental ideas behind the music, and the personal story of its author.
The result is a surreal stage where philosophy, rebellion, and the hard rock converge, amplifying the voice of Puente Negro and the fierce honesty of its message.
