I was contacted by Veronica Ferre, Art Director at The New York Times, to create an illustration for an article about the role of home inspectors and why their work is essential when choosing a house for a family.
I envisioned the home inspector as a representation of trust, someone who ensures that every detail, from structure to safety, supports the foundation of a future home. In the scene, the inspector kneels beside a family, reflecting the satisfaction of her impact on the family after examining the house with care and precision.
The family sees the house as if discovering a treasure chest being opened, a symbol of the excitement of beginning a new chapter in life in such a great place to call home.
