Pedro Butelli from Hocus Pocus reached out to me to illustrate the label for his product, as well as its promotional poster. The concept was to reinterpret the Tarot card number zero, called “The Fool”.
To develop this piece, I researched both historical and contemporary artists who have illustrated tarot cards, studied several tarot books, and experienced personal tarot readings to deeply understand its symbolism and mystical essence. Through this process, I discovered that tarot is not a tool to predict the future, but a spiritual practice that guides self-realization and enlightenment.
My artistic goal was to faithfully express this dimension of the tarot: as a mirror for inner transformation. And here is the meaning of this card:
The Fool is an innocent force of freedom, that talks about the fall and rise of our lives are equally divine, and part of a change in consciousness towards new enlightments. It is the beginning and the end of a cycle. It is the dynamic energy that plays with the whole magnitude of a being in transformation with its openness and chaos. The Fool is the necessary energy for confusions, decisions, and every authentic change.
